motorhome storage

When your motorhome is not in use, there are a number of options to consider when looking to store your motorhome, these include:
* Storing your motorhome at home
* Storage in an open air motorhome storage site
* Storage in an undercover storage site
* Seasonal or annual storage on your favourite   campsite

Storing your motorhome at home: This can be undoubtedly the cheapest form of motorhome storage and it has the advantage that you can keep an eye on your motorhome and carry out any maintenance at a time to suite you. The key disadvantages of this form of storage is that it can upset your neighbours and could possibly breach covenants on your property. NOTE: a disadvantage when you are away in your motorhome is that it can be a helpful clue to burglars that your home is empty when the motorhome is not there.

Open air storage sites: This can also be an effective solution to keep your motorhome out of the way when you are not using it. Prices range from around £4 per week depending where you live and the facilities e.g. some offer hard standing, others, it's just a field. Key advantages of using an open air storage site is that your motorhome is reasonably secure whilst being generally accessible and reasonably prices. The main disadvantages of this is that your motorhome is open to all the elements all year round and if something happens e.g. theft or weather damage it can be a while before you are aware. I know of one motorhome where mice had invaded it, the owner of the motorhome arrived after leaving his motorhome unchecked for 12 months to find the vermin had destroyed the inside of the motorhome. However, some storage sites operate a vermin control policy, ask about this before you take your motorhome into storage.

Undercover motorhome Storage: This is where motorhomes are stored undercover either in a warehouse or a barn. Generally, this is more expensive than open air storage but has the advantage of being out of harms way from the weather and will be more secure than an open air site. Many motorhome storage facilities will actually get your motorhome out for you as part of the service and put it away again which can be a big advantage if you do not enjoy manoeuvring your motorhome in tight spaces.

motorhome Seasonal Storage: If you have a favourite motorhome site that you use on a regular basis this can be a very attractive option for you. Your motorhome can be permanently sited on the campsite already for use when you arrive. The costs for this vary widely depending on the site owners. The only downside to this type of motorhome storage is that security on a campsite is usually not as high as a storage site. However, there are plenty of people around so a thief is more likely to be seen.
